Earthen love
dancing with water
let me be your Undine
You've given me soul
as I danced for you
in my aqua veils
and diamond beads of water
dappled with solar and lunar splendor
I am Undine
Undulating softly like the deep ocean
nestled near the shores of your rootsI glide, I float
I flow to your sound of melodic waves
that you manipulate into your reverie
Your lips,
a thick coral reef nestled on brown sand
sing moist words
that cling to me like droplets
your night time eyes
watch over me
gazing into my pool of aqua veils
Frothy white beads crashing against
my sandy bellyWhen you sang to me
you gave me a soul
The groove, the dance...
husband and wife
your amorous verse unites
with love's dance© 1999 by S. Asherah, all rights reserved.
An undine is a mythical female water spirit. If she marries a mortal, she gains a soul. The poem, 'Undine' was combined inspiration of her new found love of Belly dance and her favorite male R&B singer, Maxwell. |
Stephanie Asherah is a writer from Philadelphia, PA. Her poems and short stories have appeared in "Stepping Stones Magazine", and "A Hindu, A Buddhist, and a Lion Tamer" which are local literary magazines.
