The World As Throne

Is it Isis that approaches from the east?
the interminable enchantress. The throne is mended,
The sand is washed away. Someone is moving
On the horizon and rising above it.
A form of fire approaches the tomb of Osiris,
Whose life-giving presence awakens the underworld in which he dwells.

Isis has cradled a son with which to avenge him,
An implement in a battle of justice, which she imagined.
Two in a deep-founded slumbering, mother and child.
The throne is mended, the child is grown,
Yet Isis falters in brotherly meditation,
The breath of the holy bull blows over her at night.

Is it Isis that approaches from the east?
Protector and healer. The wounds are healed,
The blood is washed away. The dog star is moving
On the horizon and rising above it.
Goddess, enchantress, and perfect mother.
Whose life-giving presence awakens the earth in which she dwells.

About The Poet/Artist

Myrrha, also known as Donna Blakley, created this beautiful poem and its accompanying drawing to be used together. She has been doing Middle Eastern dance for many years, but not as many as she has been involved in poetry and artwork.

Myrrha is on the Bellyjam planning committee and designed the logo for Bellyjam. She teaches at Habeeba's Dance of the Arts and is a member of the dance troupe Mirage. She has also danced/choreographed with Rakset Afrabia and Perizada.
