Clip Art For Dancers

The images displayed from this menu are available to you to use in your newsletters, web sites, flyers, or other places where you need dance-related artwork. You are free to use these as you wish as long as you do not sell or re-sell them. This permission does not extend to pictures that appear on other parts of this web site--only the ones here that the choices below lead to!

Belly Dancer Jo's World. With her permission, I've highlighted 9 animations from Jo's web site of over 18,000 animations and linked to selected index pages on her site with additional graphics you might enjoy. I've included a link to the full web site just in case you want to explore them all.
Sample A-1 Icon Archive. The A-1 Icon Archive is a web site that claims to offer more than 300,000 freely usable icons, clip art, animated pictures, and backgrounds. I have chosen to feature 14 in particular that I think dancers would particularly like, but I've also included a link to the full web site just in case you want to take the time to look at them all.
Midnight's Attic Midnight's Attic. Midnight's Attic is a web site that claims to have 2,309 images culled from across the Internet. I have chosen to feature 17 in particular--the ones that were my favorites, but I've also included a link to the full web site just in case you want to take the time to look at them all.
Sample Of Neferchichi's Clip Art Neferchichi's Clip Art and Backgrounds. Lots of clip art and information related to ancient Egypt. You may freely use images from this site, but in return you are expected to place a link somewhere on your web site that links back to Neferchichi. Please respect the creator's wishes and do so!

Saving The Pictures From Your Browser

Please do not point your link directly to this site!!!!! It literally costs me money when people do that, so I change the locations of the pictures periodically to break such links. Instead, save the pictures to your own computer and upload them to your own web site.

Follow the instructions below for the browser that you have.

Netscape

These instructions are known to work with either Netscape 3.0 or Netscape 4.0 for Windows. I'm not sure about other versions. With the image displayed on your screen, do one of the following:

  • Click on the File menu. Pick "Save As". Follow the standard "save" dialogue to place the file in whatever directory you choose on your hard disk.
  • Use the right button on your mouse to click anywhere on the displayed image. Pick "Save Image As...." from the pop-up menu. Follow the standard "save" dialogue to place the file in whatever directory you choose on your hard disk.

Internet Explorer

These instructions are known to work with Internet Explorer 3.02 for Windows. I'm not sure about other versions. With the image displayed on your screen, do one of the following:

  • Click on the File menu. Pick "Save As File..." Follow the standard "save" dialogue to place the file in whatever directory you choose on your hard disk.
  • Use the right button on your mouse to click anywhere on the displayed image. Pick "Save Picture as..." from the pop-up menu. Follow the standard "save" dialogue to place the file in whatever directory you choose on your hard disk.

How To Resize The Artwork

If you have a PC, then you should already have the tools you need to resize the artwork. I apologize for not including Macintosh instructions, but I don't have access to a Mac.

First, you'll need to do a little setup, as follows:

  1. Using your right mouse button, click on the Start button at the lower left corner of your screen. Pick Open from the menu it gives you.
  2. It will give you a menu. Using your left mouse button, double click on Programs.
  3. Using your right mouse button, click on a blank area of the Programs menu. Pick New from the menu that pops up. Then pick Shortcut from the next pop-up menu.
  4. The Create Shortcut menu will appear. Click on the Browse button.
  5. Double-click on Program Files.
  6. Double-click on Common Files.
  7. Double-click on Microsoft Shared.
  8. Double-click on PhotoEd.
  9. It will ask you to select a name for the shortcut. Type Photo Editor in the box.

Now that you've done the above one-time setup, you're ready to resize the pictures.

You'll see that your Programs folder now has an entry for Photo Editor. That will always be there from now on when you left-click on the Start button and pick Programs from its choices.

  1. Using the instructions elsewhere on this site, save the graphic you want to your hard disk. Pay attention to the file's name and which directory you're putting it in, so you can find it later.
  2. Select Photo Editor from the Programs folder.
  3. Click on the File pull-down menu and click on Open. Use the standard file open screens to locate the graphic file.
  4. Click on the Image menu at the top of the Photo Editor screen, and pick Resize.

I'm assuming you'll be able to figure out the rest from there, and save your changes. If you don't know enough about your computer to do that, please ask a friend or family member to help you.
