Bir Demet Yasemen
(One Bunch of Jasmine)
This page contains the song lyrics to "Bir Demet Yasemen", a very beautiful traditional Turkish folk song. It includes both a transliteration of the Turkish into the Roman alphabet and a translation into English.
In the 1970's and 1980's, this sad song was often used by belly dancers in North America for dancing with a tarha (veil).
Although the song is Turkish, it's usually not used by Turkish dancers in their Oryantal dans performances.
Song lyrics are provided for educational purposes. If you like the song, please purchase either the album or a download from an authorized source. |

Bitmiyor ayrılık |
There is no end to separation |
Dinmiyor gönlümün |
There is no end to my heart's |
Hicran hicran hicran yarası |
Grief, grief, grief wound |
Bitmiyor ayrılık |
There is no end to separation |
Dinmiyor gönlümün |
There is no end to my heart's |
Hicran hicran hicran yarası |
Grief, grief, grief wound |
|
|
Ağlasam inlesem, silinmez |
If I cried or moaned, won't be erased, |
Bahtın yarası |
My destiny's wound |
Ağlasam inlesem, silinmez |
If I cried or moaned, won't be erased, |
Bahtın yarası |
My destiny's wound |
