About Mohamed
Abdel Moutaleb
Mohamed Abdel Moutaleb was a famous Egyptian singer who lived from 1910 to 1980. Mohamed Abdel Wahab recruited him to be a member of the chorus in his band, and he was a featured singer at Badia Masabni's theaters in the 1930's. He acted in more than 20 movies.
Abdel Moutaleb was one of the well-known shaabi singers in the era immediately following that of Sayed Darwish, in contrast to the concert hall style of Farid al-Atrache and Mohamed Abdel Wahab. Many of his songs remain beloved today. |

English Translation |
He never asks about me, |
and I never see him in person. |
|
|
Many times i called out to him and begged him |
that he becomes tender... but never. |
He never asks about me. |
|
|
The first time his eyes looked at me |
they fascinated me and asked me, |
"How did you make me happy?" |
He makes me happy. |
|
|
I can never stand having him be distant from me, |
and never will I love him from afar |
|
|
Many times i called out to him and begged him |
that he becomes tender... but never. |
He never asks about me. |
|
|
Between us was talk |
and love not even like that of fairy tales. |
His heart was deprived of me |
and I'll forget him only when I forget my worries. |
|
|
I never confused him, |
and never will I love him from afar. |
|
|
Many times i called out to him and begged him |
that he becomes tender... but never. |
He never asks about me. |
|
|
He doesn't ask. |
He never asks about me. |
