Q: How many music albums were used to compile these lists?
A: At the time the lists were compiled, the data set used to generate them included 234 unique music albums that were intended for use by belly dancers.
Q: How many music tracks were used to compile these lists?
A: The albums that were used to generate these lists contained a total of 2,954 music tracks.
Q: Why can't I find all of the albums through my favorite site for purchasing music?
A: Some of the albums listed may have been originally released long ago on LP vinyl records or cassette tapes, and might never have been re-released in digital form (compact disk or download). Today, the only way to obtain some of those may be through used-music sources that sell old LP records or cassette tapes.
Q: Why is the music listed primarily from Egypt and Lebanon? Why not Turkey or other places?
A: I have a vast music collection. I chose the music from Egypt and Lebanon to start creating my spreadsheet because that was the part of my collection I wanted to index first, for my own personal use. I have many wonderful albums in my personal collection that have not yet been indexed at all, including ones with Turkish, Greek, and Armenian music. It's possible I might post that music online too someday, but I can't promise that.
Q: Will additional songs be added?
A: Possibly. It depends on how much activity the songs I've already posted get. If my web statistics show low usage of the pages I have already posted, then I won't make more. But if my statistics show a large amount of usage levels, then maybe I will add more. The best way to encourage me to add more is to "like" and share my posts on social media when I announce or promote these pages, post links to these pages on your own social media, visit the pages yourself, and tell other dancers about them.
Q: How can I find out when additional songs are added?
A: One option is to follow me on social media. I will announce new song lists when I create them. Another option is to periodically return to this page and look at the list here. I will maintain this page as an index to all the song lists.
Q: Is it possible to request specific songs to be added?
A: At this time, I'm not taking requests. If I decide to take requests, I'll post an invitation via social media.
Q: Is it possible to send in track lists from other albums to be merged into these pages?
A: No. These lists are based on data in a spreadsheet that documents my personal music collection for my personal use. On these pages, I have simply made available to you the same data I'd already collected for my personal use, because it was something I could easily do. At this time, I want to keep my spreadsheet focused on albums that reside in my personal collection.
Q: Have you considered creating a searchable database or a wiki that users could add tracks to?
A: No. I'm not interested in doing that. A database or wiki would add a lot of issues with cost, complexity, security, and quality control that I'm not prepared to deal with. |
