About this SongThis song is a mahragan song (plural mahraganat), which is an edgy, controversial musical style from Egypt that arose from the shaabi neighborhoods of Egypt starting around 2006. Other names popularly used for the style are "street shaabi" and "electro-shaabi". It's electronic dance music designed for clubbing, parties, festivals, and other such occasions. Many mahraganat are considered vulgar by more conservative Egyptians due to controversial topics and content of the lyrics. Popularity of mahraganat surged after the 2011 revolution, reflecting the social turmoil of the times. About El SawareekhEl Sawareekh are a duet act that formed in 2014 in Egypt featuring Dokdok and Funky. Their first single to achieve some success was "Shoft Namla". Their first major hit, however, was "Laa Laa". They are particularly known for their performances at live events such as concerts, events, weddings, and parties. The band's name is written in Arabic as الصواريخ and means "The Rockets". Another way to spell their name is Al Sawarikh. |
